Best of spaghetti westerns with added cool of Italians
Melbourne’s 10-piece spaghetti western posse The Counterfeit will be bringing retro Italian cowboy cool to the Tanks next month to perform some of the greatest film soundtracks of the 1960s and 70s.

The Counterfeit will perform The Music of Ennio Morricone & the Spaghetti West, showcasing two live sets of iconic spaghetti western soundtrack music that has been reimagined, rearranged and carefully re-orchestrated.
Soundtracks from films such as ‘The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly’, ‘A Fistful of Dollars’, ‘Once Upon a Time in the West’ and ‘The Mercenary’, will transport audiences to those dusty landscapes and wild west shoot-outs between grim-faced heroes and villains – think Charles Bronson, Terence Hill, Clint Eastwood, James Coburn, Bud Spencer, Yul Brenner and many more.
Featuring the haunting voice of Freya Josephine Hollick, and the slow trumpet swagger of Fabian Acuna, the Counterfeits include a masterful band of musicians that know their spaghetti westerns – and the music that made them - Harley Stewart and Jan Skubiszewski on the all-important electric guitars, Delaney Stewart - bass, Josh Barber – drums, Xani Kolac – violin, Chris Maunders - harmonica, Jake Mason - organ, John Mcall – piano, and Nelson Dore - acoustic guitar.
The Counterfeit have four albums under their collective belt, which include classics as well as originals. You can check out their music, released by Fright night records, and streamed free, or visit their Facebook page.
The band will be performing at Tanks Art Centre on Friday, September 5. Venue opens 7pm for a 7.45 pm start. Fully seated, two-hour show with an interval.
