Become a Pyjama Angel
THE Pyjama Foundation is calling on the Cairns community to help brighten the future for children in foster care by becoming Pyjama Angels – volunteer mentors who provide learning support, stability and hope.

Children in out-of-home care often face disrupted schooling, trauma and a lack of consistent adult support. This can lead to low confidence, academic disengagement and feelings of isolation from school and community life.
The foundation’s ‘Love of Learning Program’ connects trained volunteers with children in care for weekly visits focused on reading, educational games and life skills. These sessions are built on trust, creating a safe, consistent environment where children feel valued and supported.
Far North Queensland coordinator Joeleen Bettini said locals were invited to give just one hour a week to make an extraordinary difference in a child’s life.
She said it really made a difference to the children with research showing great progress.
The next Pyjama Angel training session in Cairns is on Saturday 2 November.
