Band’s show longest yet
REGURGITATOR will bring a career-spanning singles set to Cairns later this month, with frontman Quan Yeomans describing the show as one of the longest the band has ever played.

The Brisbane-born band has won seven ARIA awards across its three-decade career.
They will perform at Tanks Arts Centre on Friday 17 April as part of an extended national tour celebrating more than 30 years of music.
“It’s a pretty broad spectrum of songs. One of the longest, well, the longest set we’ve ever played,” Mr Yeomans told Cairns Local News.
“Expect it to be about an hour and 50. So you got to pace yourself.”
The set will draw on decades of material, with the band aiming to deliver a high-energy run through their best-known singles.
Mr Yeomans joked that “dark chocolate” is what keeps the band creatively energised.
“It’s going to be like taking a lot of the singles from our career of 30 years and really just smashing it all out in like, over an hour and 50 (minutes), so there’s something for everyone there,” he said.

Despite their longevity, Mr Yeomans said the band’s approach remained simple.
“I’m not sure, we just kind of don’t take it too seriously and we take it day by day, really.”
The upcoming Cairns show carries personal significance for Mr Yeomans, who spent part of his childhood in Far North Queensland.
“I have personal reasons for enjoying being up in Cairns and Townsville. They’re part of my like formative years,” he said.
“I spent quite a few years as a fairly young child up there, enjoying the humidity and the freedom and the forests and so they have a special part in my heart.”
He said regional venues often offered a different experience to those in capital cities.
“The rural places that we do play are often really surprising, the way that their communities kind of come together and develop a venue,” he said.
“It really serves that kind of function a lot more in the rural areas.”
The band, which formed in Brisbane in the 1990s, has continued touring for more than three decades, a run Mr Yeomans said he never expected.
“I had no idea of possible futures, really. You just kind of hop on board something like this and go for the ride – and that’s what we’re still doing,” he said.
“As long as it’s still fun and it’s still pleasant for everyone and everyone’s having a good time … then we’ll keep going.”
Regurgitator will be supported by DEM MOB at the Tanks, with doors opening at 6.30pm and the show starting at 7.15pm. The performance forms part of an extended national tour, bringing a retrospective of the band’s singles to Far North Queensland audiences.
