The Melbourne trio will perform in Tank 5 alongside vocalist Stella Angelico, with support acts JC Funkdafied and Miss Tee Band.

Known for their Hammond organ-driven sound and live improvisation, Cookin’ On 3 Burners have spent almost three decades touring internationally and collaborating with artists including Kylie Auldist, Daniel Merriweather and Tex Perkins.

The band also gained worldwide recognition in 2016 after French producer Kungs remixed their track ‘This Girl’, which topped charts in more than 10 countries and surpassed one billion streams globally.

Founding member Jake Mason said the group’s long-running success was built on a shared connection to music and performance.

“Cookin’ On 3 Burners has been around since 1997 and over that time the band has stayed connected through a common sound, common goals and a real love of playing together,” Mr Mason said.

“We all understand the language of funk, soul and groove, and we are always trying to bring the best energy to the music and to the live show.”

Mr Mason said the band continued to draw inspiration from soul, jazz and rhythm and blues records from the 1960s and 70s.

“There is a warmth, grit and honesty in that music that we really love,” he said.

“For us, it is not about copying the past but drawing on that feeling and bringing it into the present with our own sound.”

Audiences can expect an energetic performance shaped by improvisation and interaction with the crowd.

“We love stretching the music out on stage and letting the energy of the room shape the performance,” Mr Mason said.

“The show will move through classic Cookin’ On 3 Burners repertoire, including our hit song This Girl, as well as selections from our new album Cookin’ The Books.”

Cookin’ On 3 Burners will perform at Tanks Arts Centre from 7.15pm on Friday 29 May, with tickets available through the Tanks Arts Centre website: www.bit.ly/3RxrIYm.
