Autism inspires song
AUSTRALIAN singer Suellen Cusack released a new recording during Autism Awareness Week 2026 and was named an Autism Queensland Ambassador.

Ms Cusack’s latest release, a rendition of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ featuring Opera Australia baritone Nathan Lay, was released during Autism Awareness Week, which ran from 30 March to 6 April.
The song was intended as a message of support for the neurodiverse community and families, reflecting Ms Cusack’s personal experience as a mother and advocate. “This project means a great deal to me,” Ms Cusack said.
“It’s a way of letting people know that they are seen, valued and never alone.”
Ms Cusack, a regional Australian and mother of two, said the recording was inspired by her son Gabriel, who is level 3 autistic and currently non-speaking.
“This is for Gabriel, and for every individual and family living this reality,” she said. “It speaks to hope, compassion and the importance of truly seeing one another.”
She said her experiences as a parent had shaped her understanding of connection and resilience within neurodiverse families. The release coincided with Ms Cusack’s appointment as an ambassador for Autism Queensland, where she is focusing on raising awareness and supporting families through lived experience.
Ms Cusack has previously achieved two ARIA number one Classical Crossover albums and continues to build a national audience.
The release aimed to contribute to broader conversations around autism awareness and inclusion.
Autism Awareness Week ran from 30 March to 6 April, with Ms Cusack’s recording made available during that period.
