A CAIRNS author is preparing for a series of community events following the release of her book ‘Ladies, Hear Me: I’m Done’.
Fungai Van Der Valk will host a free author talk at the Mount Sheridan Plaza community library on Saturday 9 May at 11am.
The appearance follows her first author talk at the City Library on 10 April, part of a monthly series.
“I’ve got another one coming up at Mount Sheridan Plaza on the Saturday before Mother’s Day … an author talk as well. I’ll be there with some books.”
Ms Van Der Valk said the book focused on the everyday experiences of women and aims to offer practical examples of change.
“It’s really just, you know, boundary setting … sharing experience of other women who have been in situations, everyday situations, and end up in a place of having imbalance and carrying more responsibility,” she said.
“It’s just giving them examples of how women have gotten themselves out of that situation, whether by setting boundaries … it’s not encouraging people to leave their relationships…”
