Japanese-born, Melbourne-based artist Hiroyasu Tsuri, professionally known as ‘TWOONE’, has been commissioned to create a site-specific mural inspired by the unique environment, history and community of Redlynch.

His large-scale murals can be found across Australia, Europe, Asia and North America, earning him an international reputation for creating artworks inspired by nature, history and place.

The project forms part of council’s neighbourhood murals program, which uses public art to enhance local spaces and create opportunities for community engagement.

Throughout the project, the community will have the opportunity to watch the mural evolve, attend free artist talks and meet the artist behind the work.

Mayor Amy Eden said public art was a great way to bring people together and add vibrancy to local spaces.

“Public art can bring new life to our neighbourhoods, spark conversation and give people another reason to stop, connect and enjoy these spaces,” she said.

Mr Tsuri said the opportunity captured his imagination.

“I am an explorer. I love visiting new places, meeting new people, experiencing the environment and learning about different histories and cultures,” he said.

Mr Tsuri said skateboarding had also played an important role throughout his life and artistic journey.
