The weekend begins on Friday 30 October 2026 with ‘The Next Wave: Enter Stage Right’, featuring five emerging acts, and continues on Saturday 31 October 2026 with Cairns singer-songwriter Tullara launching her debut album ‘Rebound’.

Presented by Enter Stage Right, The Next Wave aims to help emerging musicians develop their skills and gain experience performing in a professional setting.

The line-up includes Heather Kelly, Rae, Foulplay, The Cherabins and Icaro, spanning alt-folk, rock, funk, soul, reggae, dancehall, Afro-Latin and hip-hop.

Enter Stage Right’s Zane Stradling said the initiative was inspired by his experiences as a young musician.

“I participated in similar projects back when I was a teenager in regional Victoria and found them incredibly beneficial,” Mr Stradling said.

“As an emerging artist, access to high-quality performance opportunities and professional media assets is often inaccessible or expensive.

“The Next Wave provides this and more while working collaboratively with artists to figure out their challenges and help address them.

On Saturday, Tullara will perform with a full band at the hometown launch of Rebound, with support from the Tessa Devine Trio and Phoebe Jacobs.

Blending folk and roots music with indie-pop influences, the album reflects Tullara’s experiences since relocating from Grafton, NSW, to Cairns in 2021.

“I moved up to Cairns from Grafton NSW in 2021 and I started writing Rebound shortly after, so every song on the album feels very ‘Cairns’,” she said.

Tullara was recently announced as a homegrown headliner at the 2026/27 Woodford Folk Festival.

Both concerts begin at 7pm in Tank 5. Friday’s tickets cost $10, while Saturday’s album launch is $30 online or $35 at the door.
