Art deco high tea on Sunday
BOOKINGS for the opening event of this year’s Tropical Art Deco Festival, the high tea at Innisfail’s Shire Hall close today at noon.

A huge hit with locals and visitors alike in the past, with everyone dressing to impress in their vintage and flapper fashions, the compere of the afternoon event, Cr Trudy Tschui, will likely find it a difficult task to select the winners of the fashion competition.
The food will be superb, beautifully presented on tiered cake stands and served by Good Counsel College students, under the direction of the event co-ordinator and chief chef, Val McCallum, a veteran of the hospitality industry.
Entertainment will be provided by the Innisfail Community Band, The Decibelles and Danceworks Academy. Fashions will be paraded by Larsen’s News and Lorrae Showcase Jewellers. The entrants of the Riverfest Queen event will model many of the garments.
Vintage cars will be on display and make a great backdrop for photos at the front of the hall before the start of the event.
The high tea is on Sunday 14 September at 1.30pm followed by a week of activities until Sunday 21 September.
