All revved up for charity
THE proceeds of the annual Cairns Auto Spectacular have been handed over to a little-known charity.

More than $15,000 was donated to This Strong Mum Foundation, a charity dedicated to providing parents with a medical compendium that helps them store and manage the overwhelming amount of written medical information, medical protocols, specialist forms and contact details for each medical specialist involved in their child’s cancer journey.
Cairns Show Association secretary-manager Ian Moller-Nielsen said This Strong Mum Foundation was a remarkable charity and a truly deserving recipient.
“Each year, the Cairns Show Auto Spectacular selects a local not-for-profit organisation to support through its charity auction on the first night of the event,” he said.
“During the 2025 Cairns Show Auto Spectacular, This Strong Mum was not only the charity partner, but also had a booth set up at the event. This allowed them to raise awareness and share their mission with attendees, help people sign up to be plasma and blood donors and give (charity founder) Anj Mittelstadt the opportunity to share her story – a story that brought tears to many eyes and deeply resonated with those present.”
Mr Moller-Nielsen also said the partnership between the auto spectacular and This Strong Mum Foundation was unique and deeply meaningful.
“Auto spectacular would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Anj and This Strong Mum Foundation for allowing us the opportunity to raise money for such a worthy cause,” he said.
Ms Mittelstadt expressed “a huge thanks” to the show association for choosing This Strong Mum Foundation as the charity for the auto spectacular and to the “amazingly generous car enthusiasts for making such a difference for our charity”.
