40th birthday for Just Kids
A CAIRNS early childhood education centre is preparing to celebrate four decades of welcoming local children and families.
Just Kids Early Education House, at 219 Draper Street, Cairns, is marking its 40th anniversary this September, with a birthday family fun afternoon scheduled for Friday 25 September.
Established in 1986 by Elizabeth and Bruce Ennis, Just Kids has remained family-owned and operated throughout its history.
Hayley and Heath Williams took ownership in 2010, continuing a connection that began when Hayley started her teaching career at Just Kids in the early 1990s.
While early childhood education has changed over the past 40 years, the centre says its focus has remained on building strong relationships and creating an environment in which children feel valued, confident and encouraged to be creative.
The centre’s distinctive red-brick house, outdoor spaces and winding staircase have been part of the childhoods of generations of Cairns families. Some former children are now returning to the centre as parents, bringing their own children.
To mark the anniversary, Just Kids invites past, present and future families to its 40th Birthday Family Fun Afternoon on Friday 25 September, from 3.30pm to 5.30pm.
Visitors will be able to explore the house, reconnect with familiar faces and view a special gallery showcasing photographs and memories spanning more than 40 years.
The anniversary event will be held at Just Kids Early Education House, 219 Draper Street, Cairns and all are welcome to attend.
