Marlin Coast Netballers hit the courts
THE Fowlers Group Marlin Coast Representative carnival was hosted by the Mareeba Netball Association on Sunday 31 May at their association netball complex in Mareeba.
The event attracted 19 representative teams in 3 age groups ranging from 12, 14 and 16 years.
The games were played in perfect weather conditions and players, volunteers and spectators all enjoyed the Marlin Coast event.
Competition was fierce in all divisions and although Cairns dominated the winners circle, many of the other associations are reducing the gap.
16 and Under Division:
The 16 and Under division was dominated by Cairns teams with the younger age (14) group taking out the winner’s trophy over their older team (15). Competition was remarkably close in this division and Innisfail were only one point in third place.
14 and Under Division:
Cairns were once again taking out the winner’s trophy and although undefeated only pipped Marlins by one goal to be the top team.
12 and Under Division
Cairns made it a trifecta with wins in the 12 and Under division and with a combined Tablelands and Marlins team joining together to take out the runners up.
Several of the associations used the event as a warmup to the State-wide event that teams will travel south to compete in July.
The next event on the Marlin Coast calendar will be the Fowlers Group Club Carnival which will be held in Cairns on August 1 in Cairns.
