CHARITIES supporting charities

Cairns-based charity Bresnahan Footprint Foundation is determined to ensure their partner charities are well-resourced so they can focus on what they are good at, driving social change one step at a time.

The Bresnahan Footprint Foundation provides a vehicle for donors to make tax-deductible contributions to the not-for-profit (NFP) sector, knowing their investment will make a significant difference, nationally or locally.

Founder and Cairns local Toni Bresnahan said she could see how the current funding model of driving down overhead costs was locking Australian charities into a funding starvation mode.

In addition, twelve-month funding cycles and the NFP sector spend too much time chasing grants to deliver government outcomes rather than doing what they excel at, serving the community and solving complex social issues.

“There are large corporations and private philanthropists wanting to invest; however, they lack time to seek out reputable charities, partnerships, and programs to contribute to,” Ms Bresnahan said.

“We take all the stress from donating to worthy charities because we are the conduit.”

“Our approach is unique insofar as we believe NFPs must be well-funded and secure in the knowledge they have a long-term partner so they can focus on what they do best.”

Wheels of Wellness (WoW) CEO Yolonde Entsch said she was thrilled to be partnering with Bresnahan Footprint Foundation.

“I would like to congratulate Ms Bresnahan for identifying one of the most challenging issues facing the NFP sector, which is funding models that create uncertainty and instability for organisations,” Ms Entsch said.

“Choosing to invest in our region and understanding the importance this investment means to charities and NFPs is a breath of fresh air.

“For WoW, this means knowing we have a future beyond twelve-month funding cycles. It means we can be dynamic and flexible in the way we deliver primary healthcare to people sleeping rough in Cairns.

“It also means that we can listen to what our homeless folks are telling us they need and deliver accordingly.”

Bresnahan Footprint Foundation is calling on Cairns’ philanthropists, businesses and corporates that want to leave a footprint in our local community to donate before June 30, 2022.

Bresnahan Footprint Foundation currently supports several charities around Australia, including Pinchapoo, Backpacks 4 SA Kids and The Village Co.

In Cairns, they have proudly partnered with Wheels of Wellness Homeless Hub & Mobile GP Clinics and Shelter Housing Action Cairns.
