They are offering an introductory ‘how to play’ (skills, drills and games) on Thursday nights from 6pm to 8pm, but the competitive division with athletes will show again on Wednesday evenings.

For people aged 12 or over interested in taking on a new game and who are not yet ready to dive into Wednesday nights competitive volleyball, the Association hosts two-hour sessions per week for nine weeks for $70 beginning on April 28.

Cairns Volleyball/ Volleyball QLD requires $50 for membership/ insurance purposes.

For players with more experience who know the game and want to go in-depth, Cairns Volleyball will return to the competitive volleyball seasons, with men’s and women’s competitions getting off the ground and thus athletes back in the air again on Wednesday nights at the Mulgrave Rd Youth Centre.

Cairns Volleyball Association President Chris Poppell said it is exciting to start such a big season.

“Although we are a small association, Cairns Volleyball has been working to offer more to the community for the last two years,” Mr Poppell said.

“On Thursdays, we have 12-year-old students learning the skills with other teenagers, alongside young women coming back into sport developing skills next to mums with their daughters; all being coached by some of the greatest players in Cairns who are then competing in the Wednesday night competition.

“Does it really get any better and more holistic than this?” he said.
