Or dreamt of plating up your signature dish for the MasterChef Judges? Well now is your chance.

Applications for the 15th season of MasterChef are now open. Yes, you read that right, MasterChef has been on our screens for fourteen straight years and has transformed dozens of home cooks into some of the country’s most loved culinary masters, many of whom have sprung from Queensland.

Think Tessa Boersma, Montana Hughes, Ben Borsht and Sum Yung Guys’ Matt Sinclair. They all got their break cooking under the lights and cameras of Australia’s favourite cooking show.

With the current Fans & Favourites season nearing its finale, the team behind the screen have already begun their country wide search for contestants for 2023. So, how do you score yourself a chance of turning from loungeroom food critic into TV cooking star (not to mention a shot at winning some life changing prize money) ... it’s as simple as making a cheese toastie … APPLY!

Here’s the run down for how it all works:

Head to the Channel 10 casting page (see below) and register your details. Now the team know you’re interested. Next, you’ll need to complete the application form. You’ll be asked for a profile picture of your sweet self and at least three pictures of dishes that you have recently cooked. They do not need to be professional photos but do try to make sure they aren’t blurry and that they show off your food in a way you are happy with. You also have the option of uploading a short video of yourself cooking and/or telling the producers why you love cooking and why you want to be on the show. This video is encouraged but not mandatory.

The application will ask some questions about the two topics you know best – you, and your cooking. All questions are designed for the casting producers to get to know you. The best advice here is to just be honest and be yourself.

Auditions are set to be held in major cities in the coming months (something that hasn’t been able to happen for the past two years due to COVID restrictions) and if you’re invited to audition this is your chance to show the producers what you’re made of by cooking them a dish to knock their socks off.

Lastly, the show is for amateur home cooks (professional chefs need not apply) and contestants must be 18 years or older and an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident. Most importantly, you’ve just got to have a passion for food and cooking.

Applications close Sunday 14th August 2022. So don’t hesitate any longer, sign up, apply, and start practising that wow signature dish.

And the next time your family and friends encourage you to apply for MasterChef – you can ask them to start ironing your apron.

MasterChef Australia airs at 7.30pm Sunday-Thursdays, only on 10 and 10 Play on Demand.
