Along with three other Ramsay Health Care Australia hospitals, Cairns Private Hospital was listed in the top 2,000 facilities across the globe and in the top 45 facilities in Australia.

The World’s Best Hospitals 2021 initiative is a partnership between Newsweek and global data research firm Statista. This year’s study recognises hospitals across 25 countries for their “consistent excellence, particularly for their distinguished physicians, top-notch nursing care and state of the art technology”.

The World’s Best Hospitals 2021 report gave each hospital a percentage score based on recommendations from medical experts (55%), results from patient surveys (15%) and medical key performance indicators on hospitals (30%). In the top Australian hospital rankings, Cairns Private Hospital was 45th with a score of 69.64%.

Chief Executive Officer Ben Tooth said the honour reflected the incredible efforts of his team who put patients first throughout the pandemic.

“The COVID-19 pandemic created challenges for the entire health care system and I am so proud  of our Cairns Private team for setting an extraordinary example of commitment, professionalism and solidarity in the face of adversity,” Mr Tooth said.

“Ramsay Health Care was founded on the ideals of 'people caring for people’ and this has certainly been reinforced by this wonderful recognition”.

The other Ramsay Australia hospitals to make the list were Sydney’s North Shore Private Hospital which was ranked 28th with a score of 71.59%. Victoria’s Beleura Private came in at 40th with 69.81% and Mitcham Private was 44th with 69.66%.
