The clinic will welcome 35 players from Tully, Innisfail, the Tablelands, Mareeba and Cairns. All players were recently selected through the Talent Identification Development (TID) Festival held in Cairns in October.

Players aged between 14 and 17 will have the opportunity to work with former Diamond netball legend Vicki Wilson.

Academy president Heather McLaren said the clinic was designed to keep players focused and engaged with the program.

“This is just more or less to keep them together, keep them focused in on the academy and get them ready for February in 2026,” she said.

Ms McLaren said the clinic would also help the academy plan for next year.

“I will meet with all the coaches this Saturday and with Vicki, and we’ll just make sure we’ve got all our dates in for 2026 so we’re ready to go,” she said.

“The focus of the clinic is on specialist positional work and helping our players improve specific skills,” Ms McLaren said.

“Each participant will be assessed and given a tailored program to work on over the break to prepare them for the 2026 academy program.”

The event marks the culmination of the academy’s 2025 calendar and highlights its ongoing commitment to developing young netball talent in Far North Queensland.
