The exhibition will explore themes of familial ties, ancient voices and new beginnings as the father-daughter duo presents a collaborative, multi-medium art exhibition in the Crystalbrook Bailey atrium.

‘Ancient Voices - New Beginnings’ is a diverse and intriguing mix of Jedess’ contemporary perspective and David’s traditional storytelling style.

This exhibition combines ancient art forms with modern ideas, passing the baton from father to daughter.

This is the first time the artists have collaborated, an honour that is not lost on Jedess.

“I’m exhibiting alongside my father for the very first time,” Ms Hudson said. “He has inspired, shaped, and developed my unique voice and visual art style over the years.”

Likewise, David – an internationally renowned musician, artist, entertainer and presenter – is proud to pass on his passion and practice to his daughter and pay homage to traditional Aboriginal culture in a contemporary way while also sharing their own family’s story.

“This exhibition is about keeping culture alive,” Mr Hudson said.

“To have an opportunity to exhibit with my daughter is something that I have long looked forward to. “Providing her with cultural knowledge over her developing years and seeing this come to fruition is awesome.”

Crystalbrook Bailey General Manager Lisa Brown said Crystalbrook warmly welcomes Jedess and David Hudson as feature artists to share their work and culture with the community.

“We are proud to support local emerging and established artists by offering a beautiful space to exhibit their work to a wide audience,” Ms Brown said.

“We’re incredibly excited to see Jedess and David Hudson’s exhibition come to life, and welcome all to attend our opening night.”

The exhibition consists of 12+ curated pieces reflecting David and Jedess’ Ewamian and Western Yalanji Country. Using a mix of individual and blended art pieces, ‘Ancient Voices – New Beginnings’ gives insight into how their diverse cultural creative ideas meet, blend and flourish.

Exploring new styles and techniques over the past year, Jedess and David are excited to release this collaboration into the world.
