Walkthrough of the Village Green

Over the weekend, Mayor Mark Nolan, CEO Andrew Graffen and Councillor Barry Barnes were joined by leader of the federal opposition Anthony Albanese for a walkthrough of the Village Green in Mission Beach while on his regional North Queensland tour.

The walk through discussed the future vision of the central business area in Mission Beach and the positive effects the CBD revitalisation will have on tourism and local business in the Mission Beach and Cassowary Coast area.

Mr Albanese was advised on Council’s upcoming application for funding under Building Better Regions Funding round 6 and was also shown the progress of Stage One of the Mission Beach CBD Revitalisation.

Stage One of the revitalisation saw construction of a 56 bay carpark which includes disabled parking bays and bays suitable for larger caravans and RV’s.

Stage One has been fully funded by Council and is expected to be completed by the end of January, weather permitting.

The CBD Revitalisation project will bring new life to the precinct and deliver on the aspirations of the business community to reinforce Mission Beach’s reputation as an iconic tourism destination.

These much needed works will make this precinct a place to live, work, shop, invest, dine and experience for locals and tourists alike.
