Services Expo For The Cassowary Coast Community
RESIDENTS from the Cassowary Coast and surrounds are invited to a free community expo at the Innisfail Shire Hall hosted by Mission Australia on Thursday, August 4, from 1pm to 4pm.
The Cassowary Coast Region Services Expo aims to connect people with disability and aged care providers along with mainstream and community services such as tenancy support and health and employment providers.
The event will also celebrate National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day. It will feature a broad range of free interactive activities such as a sensory tent, children’s entertainment and come-and-try activities.
Mission Australia Community Engagement Facilitator Jodi Bjorksten said the event was an opportunity to see what programs and services were available and speak directly with providers.
“This expo is designed to connect people with disability and in the aged care sector, their families and carers, to community services,” Ms Bjorksten said.
“It also provides an excellent opportunity for community members to see what services are available in their community.
“Sometimes, you just want to speak to a provider in person to help explain things.
“The expo is designed to build community connection and help reduce the feeling of isolation that many have felt over the last couple of years.”
Ms Bjorksten added that many people were not aware of what local services were available and encouraged everyone to come to have a look.
“There will be free information and merchandise, and while it is largely disability-related, there will be allied health, aged care and general community information available,” she said.
“This is the perfect opportunity to go to a single location where more than 60 organisations will be represented and ready to answer your questions.
“From food and health to housing and physiology services – there’s something for everyone.”
The Cassowary Coast Region Services Expo at the Innisfail Shire Hall is free to attend.
