"Gazza's Goss: HAPPY TAILS IN PORT DOUGLAS!"

IT’S always an exciting time of the year when the Port Douglas Carnivale approaches.

There are so many exciting things on offer such as the Seafood Extravaganza, Tropical Rock Concert, Gin Fest, Wonderland Spiegeltent, Street Parade and heaps more.

Two events that particularly stood out, for me, this year were the Pooch Party and Paws and Claws Gala Luncheon. This is not only because I’m an animal lover but also because the proceeds from both events are going to a great cause.

First up will be the Gala luncheon, this Sunday May 15. In support of the Paws and Claws Animal Shelter, the afternoon of fine dining at Zinc Restaurant will bring amazing entertainment, raffles and naturally prizes.

Kicking off at midday, guests will enjoy a three-course meal and a whole heap of fun.

This year’s Pooch Party at Jalunbu Park, Corner Mowbray and Garrick Street will have tails wagging from 10am on Saturday May 21. It follows last year’s successful inaugural event and once again provides all sorts of fun, games and I’ve no doubt a few treats for our four-legged friends.

Categories include Cutest, Naughtiest, Waggiest and even Ugliest dog. There’ll be a prize for the Best Dog Trick, Best Dressed and Best Groomed Dog, plus closest Owner / Dog lookalike. The premium award will go to the fur baby chosen as the Douglas Top Dog.

This event is proudly sponsored by Ray White Port Douglas in support of Paws and Claws, with all money raised going towards the opening of the newly built animal shelter in the Douglas Shire.
