Each team entrant will become a sponsor of the competition and their branding will be plugged over the duration of the event.

Helping to promote the enjoyable sport of social barefoot bowls, the competition will run midweek over five weeks starting on Wednesday May 4th, with team nominations closing on May 2nd.

Apart from being a great way to meet new people, the main idea of the event is simply to have some midweek enjoyment. Rest assured, however, most teams will also be keen to not show themselves up and try to end each evening with a win.

The eventual winning team gains naming rights to the following years competition, with local business Tshinta fronting this year’s event as result of some great bowls last year. The competition is also kindly supported by Corona.

Last year, myself and colleagues from FAB FM took to the green and had a thoroughly fun but challenging time, so I would definitely recommend it.

Trust me, you’ll soon be aware that bowls is not just for the more senior members of the community but can be enjoyed by both children and adults. If you’ve never played lawn bowls before, there will be plenty of support and advice from the more experienced players at the club. You may even find that you get the ‘bowls bug’ and become a regular visitor after your five week introduction to the game.

As a final word of encouragement and to hopefully whet your appetite further, if you’ve never had the pleasure of a visit to Mossman Bowls Club, you’ll soon discover that the venue is one of the best sporting facilities in FNQ, with superb bar facilities and an excellent menu.

Altogether, it bodes well for five fantastic Wednesday evenings.

The games start each week at 6.30pm and is just $20 to register a team. On the night it is only $4 per player per night.
