"Gazza´s Goss: There’s No Place Like Home!"

HAVING your own independence and a comfortable home life is important whatever your situation and is something that many of us probably take for granted.

For those reading this week’s ‘Goss’ who feel their home life could be improved, or for people that may know somebody in this situation, there may well be help at hand.

If you’ve visited Front Street in Mossman recently, you may have noticed the new shiny red office, housing some new kids on the block!

Yes…. Pharaoh Care has arrived providing NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) support for people with disabilities, plus equally important, assistance for their families and carers.

Last week, I popped into the new office to find out more.

Pharaoh Care was designed to provide individuals and their families with the “best choice” for their home care needs.

Operating as an in-home health, personal care service provider, they focus on providing a full range of non-medical, lifestyle and wellbeing services that enables people with disabilities to remain independent in their own homes.

The Team put emphasis on meeting individual needs and tailoring a home care support plan to suit each and every person. The services provided are delivered in a way that promotes dignity, integrity, and respect. This is achieved by approaching things differently – by seeing clients as people with personalities, families, interests, and dreams rather than just another client.

The care is based on the principles of compassion and professionalism, the dignity of the individual and a commitment to excellence.

Eligible clients can access Pharaoh Care through either a self-referral or by being referred by their carer, medical advisory or medical insurer.

They are happy to help you understand what NDIS is all about, how the process works and how to connect with the National Disability Insurance Scheme to assist with your requirements. Should there be a need, Pharoah Care can also provide short term and medium-term accommodation respite options in Cairns and on the Tablelands.

Pharaoh Care have offices in Cairns and Mareeba, but as mentioned earlier, now have a Douglas Shire office at 31 Front Street Mossman, which employs local staff to support local participants.

I could honestly say nice things about these people all day, but for now it’s Gazza signing out.
