Cardwell Pump Track On Track

BMX riders, mountain bikers, skateboarders and scooter riders will soon be able to put their ability and skills to the test, with construction underway on the Cardwell Pump Track.

Work includes upgrading the carpark, improving bathroom facilities, installing a bike wash, signage and promotional material. Already, the carpark has been sealed, access to the carpark installed and work on the pump track has commenced. 

Once complete the pump track will include ride features such as berms, dragonbacks, rollers and doubles which will teach skills to advance any rides mountain bike skills whilst at the same time a whole lot of fun! World Trial, one of the largest and most experienced mountain bike trail companies, has designed and is undertaking construction of the pump track. 

World Trail has constructed Pump Tracks for neighbouring council’s including, Cairns Regional Council and Gladstone Regional Council. The project is expected to be complete by mid-June, weather permitting, with an official opening event likely in late June. 

Little disruptions will occur to the Cardwell community, however residents may experience low level construction noise.

Funding is provided from the Commonwealth of Australia to the State of Queensland under the Federal Funding Agreement – Environment. 

To provide for this funding allocation, the COVID-19 World and National Heritage schedule was developed between the Commonwealth of Australia and the State of Queensland acting through the Department of Environment and Science. The Department of Environment and Science has agreed that the Grant will be administered by the Department of Tourism, Innovation and Sport, on behalf of the State Government.
