Bridgette Gower - Buggin' and Shroomin'

Tue 1 June - Sun 4 July Botanic Gardens Visitor Centre

Cairns macro photographer Bridgette Gower has spent over 1000 hours photographing the miniature lifeforms in the Cairns Botanic Gardens and her own backyard.

This small exhibition shows you how much beauty there is to be found if you know where to look. So many animals go completely unnoticed and under-appreciated until you see the incredible details that come into view with a macro photograph.

Bridgette’s images feature a variety of animals found in Cairns and regularly seen on her Let’s Go Buggin and Let’s Go Shroomin Tours.

You can also get a the first glimpse of her Disco Bugs Collection that was inspired by her past life as a DJ. A combination of beautiful bugs and jumping spiders photographed in her backyard.

All the prints are for sale and more photographs can be made to order.

For more info, see Bridgette's website or The Tanks' website

Exhibition is open: 8.30am – 4.00pm Weekdays, 9.30am – 2.00pm Weekends until 4th July

Hannah Parker and Jane Dennis - SKIN: peels, heals and regenerates

Tue 1 June - Tue 20 July Tanks Arts Centre

A fresh exhibition of recent works on paper and other mediums by two of our region’s favourite artists.

Knowing that life constantly changes, both Jane and Hannah strive to push through personal boundaries.

Exploring their own creative processes and perceptions they both yearn to find context in the current landscape.

Through dissection and reconstruction, their conflict takes form. It is random and eclectic, delicately balanced with the fabulously disturbed.

Exhibition open through to Sunday June 20, 9.00am – 4.30pm Weekdays, 10am – 2.00pm Weekends

See the Tanks Arts Centre website for more details
